FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Animation Industry Essentials includes five on-demand modules covering topics such as the principles of animation, production pipelines, animation careers, industry globalization, building a brand, and different types of animation including 3D, 2D, and emerging technologies. Each course module takes 2-3 hours to complete and is broken into shorter lessons and activities that students work on at their own pace.

The course is taught by New York University Tisch School of the Arts faculty, supplemented with insights from executives and working animators at top studios.

There are no prerequisites. All you need is a passion for animation and learning. 

Students must be at least 13 years old to participate.

Animation Industry Essentials is a non-credit course. Students who complete the course will earn a Certificate of Completion from New York University Tisch School of the Arts.

After completing the course, students will have a significantly greater understanding of the animation industry. In addition, students will receive a Certificate of Completion from New York University (NYU) Tisch School of the Arts that they can proudly add to their LinkedIn profile and resume. This credential can help open doors to a future in the animation industry.

The course is offered 100% online and is entirely self-paced and on-demand — so students can access the course video lessons, assignments and other materials whenever and wherever they like.

It varies from person to person, but be prepared to dedicate about 30-40 hours in total.

Students have unlimited access to the course for one year, starting on the date of enrollment.

After one year, if you need more time to complete the program, you will have an option to pay a monthly subscription fee to continue your access to the program materials.

We want you to succeed (and we love the environment)! That’s why we’ve kept all program materials online. You can access and review the materials whenever you like through the course login page, which you’ll receive once you enroll — all you need is an internet-connected device.

Class videos or materials are not downloadable. However, once enrolled, you will have unlimited access to all videos and materials for 12 months.

You can access the program on your computer, tablet, or smartphone, but the best experience is on your computer.
