The performing arts program includes 5 online course modules, and related skill-building activities. Each module is 3-5 hours, and is broken into several shorter lessons that students complete at their own pace. Students earn a non-credit certificate of completion from NYU.
This module gives you an overview of theatre history and unpacks the mechanisms through which a show fulfills its promise to the audience.
Before the cast steps foot into the theater, the scripts have to be written, funding and space have to be procured, and there must be an overall artistic vision. This module focuses on all the people who get the show moving.
It takes an army of skills to turn an empty space into the world of the show. This module focuses on the designers, staging professionals, and media experts who collaborate with a director.
This module highlights the performers who bring the show to life each night. What is the job of a professional actor, dancer, or musician in the theater?
This module focuses on the professionals who make a show run from a casting, technical, and administrative perspective. A show doesn’t exist in a vacuum; these roles play a crucial role in any show’s overall success.
