Wanting to get ahead of the game, Abigail applied to the Fundamentals of Global Sports Management online course to prepare for graduate school. ON CHOOSING FUNDAMENTALS OF GLOBAL SPORTS MANAGEMENT —
I wanted to prepare for a full-time graduate program in sports management. The online course offered an introductory look into sports management. Since I was already applying to NYU’s formal graduate program in sports business, it greatly influenced my decision to take the course. I was applying to traditional graduate programs in the field, but I wanted to bolster my application and learn about NYU’s approach to sports business. TeamWork Online also hosts jobs for the sports properties I have worked with and want to work with in the future. The partnership with them added incredible practical value to the course.
ON BEING A YELLOWBRICK STUDENT —
My favorite part of the course was the Marketing module and the Barclays Activation assignment. This assignment offered the most valuable experience. It generated practical engagement with a sports property and an entertainment venue to create a professional, polished sponsorship proposal.
ON REAL-LIFE APPLICATION —
The course added a solid line for my academic and professional resumes. Moreover, it helped with admissions into a formal Master in Sport Management program. In addition, the knowledge and experience gained through the course helped me excel in a traditional graduate program. It also helped land contractual and part-time work with sports properties and startups across the country. I ultimately received admission into NYU’s MS in Sports Business program and credit this course with helping me do so.
