The Music Industry Essentials course presented a budget-friendly alternative. Read on to learn about his student success journey and how the course reshaped his approach to music.

ON CHOOSING MUSIC INDUSTRY ESSENTIALS —
I thought Music Industry Essentials was right for me because I was thinking about applying to the NYU Clive Davis Institute for Recorded Music. I was super intrigued by the Yellowbrick course. So I decided to apply, and I was amazed at how much information was packed into it. It had everything I wanted to learn as I jumped into the music industry.
I wanted to build the confidence needed to get into the industry. With it being so competitive and huge, I felt this online music course would help me learn the inner workings. It gave me the knowledge and tools to succeed in such an environment.
ON BEING A YELLOWBRICK STUDENT —
The third module, Creativity In Content And Artistry, was my favorite because JD Samson really nailed how important the artists themselves really are. Also, I loved how introspective it got. It helped me dive deep into my own mind and ask questions like, “what do I really want to tell my audience?”
ON REAL-LIFE APPLICATION —
I feel I’m more confident in learning how to set up an actual gig and can do it more professionally. I was always scared at how professional everyone was in the industry. But thanks to the course, I feel a little more confident that I can tackle it.
The biggest takeaway from the program is just learning how important connections and networking are in the music industry.
ON THE PAST & WHAT’S NEXT —
Since taking the course, I’m using the knowledge to push forward my artist persona. The most it’s done for my music career so far is to prepare me to set up for gigs, create meaningful songs, and appreciate the importance of networking.
