The Full Product Design Curriculum

Each module is broken into short video lessons with assignments and hands-on projects you complete at your own pace.

Module 01

Project Foundations

Learn how product design projects begin by identifying opportunities, understanding user and market needs, and defining clear goals, requirements, and success criteria. Explore research, competitive analysis, design thinking, and value assessment methods to shape a strategic approach and establish a strong foundation for product development.
Module 02

Beginning the Design

Generate and explore a wide range of product ideas through brainstorming, sketching, visualization, and user-centered design methods to identify the most promising concepts. Test, refine, and evaluate ideas with stakeholders and users, while establishing project plans, milestones, and team structures to guide the selected concept into development.
Module 03

Focus and Test the Design

Refine and develop a chosen product concept by defining its form, materials, engineering requirements, and production considerations while creating digital models and functional prototypes for testing and validation. Explore how packaging, graphics, instructions, and brand storytelling contribute to the overall user experience and prepare a product for market launch.
Module 04

Final Product and Manufacturing

Learn about finalizing the product specs and how creating precise documentation plays a crucial role in fabrication, costing, product development, marketing, and sales.

What Does the Course Cover?

Product Design Essentials includes five on-demand courses covering topics such as Project Foundations, Beginning the Design, Focus and Test the Design, Handing Off the Final Product and Manufacturing, and Results and Review. Each course is 2 to 3 hours and is broken into shorter modules and activities that you complete at your own pace.

What Can I Expect to Accomplish by the End?

You will come away with a significantly greater understanding of how the product design industry and related careers work. You will also receive a Certificate of Completion from Parsons that helps differentiate you from the rest of the pack.

Are There Any Age Requirements?

Students must be at least 13 years old to enroll.

How Long Do I Have Access to the Course?

Enrollment includes unlimited access to all course videos and materials for one year from your enrollment date. If you need more time after that, you can pay a monthly subscription fee to extend your access.

What Payment Methods Do You Accept?

Most major credit and debit cards are accepted, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and JCB. If you enroll outside the United States, tuition is charged in your local currency at the prevailing exchange rate.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

You can withdraw within 24 hours of enrollment for a full refund. After that, you have up to 7 days to withdraw for a full refund minus a $100 cancellation fee. No refunds are issued after 7 days. Subscription plans can be canceled before your renewal date by emailing [email protected].

How Much Does the Course Cost?

Tuition is $999 when paid in full. Two payment plans are also available at checkout: 4 monthly payments of $269 or 12 monthly payments of $99.
