Inside the Course

The Full Animation Curriculum

Each module is broken into short video lessons with assignments and hands-on projects you complete at your own pace.

Module 01

The Drawing Comes Alive: History & Principles

Humans have been making artistic marks for thousands of years, but in the 19th Century, we figured out how to make them move. Trace animation's evolution into a full-fledged industry over 100 years, while studying the core principles of animation that still govern the art to this day, even in the most technologically advanced sectors.
Module 02

Work & Career in the Modern Industry

Once dominated by the American mega-studios, the animation industry is now fully international, and driven by software and technologies that artists must know to stay competitive. See how the modern business operates across film, television, and video games, and what skills will be needed tomorrow.
Module 03

The 2D Animation Pipeline

Classical 2D animation may no longer dominate the industry, but it's still a field of great innovation and artistry. See how professional animators in digital, stop motion, pen and ink, and experimental 2D animation continue to advance their field, and what it takes to carve out a career in the area where animation began.
Module 04

The 3D Animation Pipeline

Computer-assisted animation has existed since the 1950s, but its explosion over the past two decades has remade how popular entertainment is created. Dive into cutting edge 3D animation software like Maya and Blender, while following the production pipeline for most of today's animated films, shows, and games.
Module 05

Pressure & Opportunity: Business & Marketing in Animation

Technology is driving the animation industry into uncharted waters. Globalization is moving many studios overseas while producers are constantly experimenting on how to deliver more content cheaply. Stay up on the biggest drivers in the animation industry while developing your own brand and career profile.
