NEW YORK, NY — May 22, 2019 — Yellowbrick, in collaboration with the Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport of the NYU School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS) and TeamWork Online, today announced the introduction of a new course, Fundamentals of Global Sports Management, an online program that explores all facets of sports business and introduces students to potential career paths.
Yellowbrick, a New York-based education technology company, worked jointly with faculty members of the Tisch Institute for Global Sport to create the program; leveraging further expertise from TeamWork Online, a company that delivers products and services to match great talent with jobs in the sports industry. Course instructors include Professors David Hollander, Brandon Brown, Andrea Geurin, David Abrams, Lee Igel, Brianna Newland, and Cameron Myler, as well as Vince Gennaro, associate dean of the Tisch Institute.

In addition to NYU Tisch Institute faculty, students also will learn from leading sports industry professionals from top leagues, conferences, and other businesses.

Through a six-part curriculum, the course introduces learners to the diverse career opportunities found within the sports industry. The program will delve into disciplines such as analytics, consumer behavior, relationship marketing, fundraising, and operations. Along with video content, case studies, and reading materials, the program will take learners through valuable “real-world” projects, workplace simulations, in-depth activities, and experiences designed to prepare them for the job market.
The instructors will cover the various roles and challenges that arise as franchises and event promoters navigate factors like urban planning, finance, economics, diversity, social justice, corporate social responsibility, marketing, law, globalization, and organizational behavior. With over 15 hours of instructional content and related activities, the course will delve into topics that are vital to success across the industry. Topic titles include, “The Essence of Sport & Fandom,” “Sports Media & Marketing,” “Sports Data and Analytics,” “Global Sport Ecosystem,” “The Transformative Power of Sport,” and “Sports Innovation and Disruption.”
The Fundamentals of Global Sports Management program is the latest Yellowbrick course to be created in collaboration with a top university. Additional courses focus on competitive, passionate industries like fashion, music, beauty, sneaker design and trade, and hospitality; and have been created in partnership with FIT, Parsons, Complex, Allure, and Teen Vogue.
