THE PROGRAM

What does the program cover?

Hospitality and Tourism Industry Essentials includes six on-demand courses covering topics such as Foundations of the Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Industry, Demand Management, Travel Tourism Management, Experience Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism. Total length of each course is 3-5 hours, and each course is broken into several shorter modules and activities that students complete at their own pace.

Who are the teachers?

Courses are taught by NYU Tisch faculty. Students will also receive career insights from industry experts and leaders.

Do I earn credits?

No, Hospitality and Tourism Industry Essentials is a non-credit program. Students who successfully complete the program will earn a non-credit, Certificate of Completion in Hospitality and Tourism Industry Essentials from NYU.

What do I get when I complete the program?

Students who successfully complete the program will earn a non-credit, Certificate of Completion in Hospitality and Tourism Industry Essentials from NYU.

Are there any prerequisites?

There are no prerequisites to participate. All you need is a passion for hospitality and learning.

Are there any age requirements or restrictions?

Students must be at least 13 to participate.

If I pay for this program, do I own the class videos?

Just like an online course you may have taken before, you own all the knowledge and experience you gain from the program, but you do not own the class videos or materials. However, once enrolled, you will have unlimited access to all videos and materials for 12 months.

How long do I have to complete to the program?

With your enrollment, you will have unlimited access to the full program for one year from the first time you log into the program. There’s a lot to cover, and we know life is busy, which is why we give our students plenty of time to work through everything.

What if I need more time?

After one year, if you need more time to complete the program, you will have an option to pay a monthly fee to continue your access to the program materials.

What can I expect to accomplish by the end of this course?

By the end of the course, you will have developed skills and knowledge to help launch or advance a career in the hospitality industry. You will have received a certificate of completion from NYU that you can proudly add to your personal profile and your resume. It is a credential that can open doors to a future in hospitality industry. Plus, you will have explored the various career paths in the industry and identified your areas of passion and the career possibilities within the world of hospitality and tourism.

They might be working in the hospitality and tourism industry looking to get ahead, or working in a different industry looking to switch careers. They might be heading to college, in college, or just out of college and want to build skills and gain valuable experience that will set them apart in a hyper-competitive industry. They might be your future professional and personal network in the hospitality world. They might be like you — a future leader in the world of hospitality.

Where do I find the program materials?

We want you to succeed (and we love the environment)! That’s why we’ve kept all program materials online. You can access and review the materials whenever you like through the course login page, which you’ll receive once you enroll — all you need is an internet-connected device.

Which devices can I use to watch the class videos and access other program materials?

You can access the program on your computer, tablet, or smartphone, but the best experience is on your computer.

When and where do the classes meet?

Whenever you like — the program is entirely self-paced and on-demand. You can study and access the program lessons whenever and wherever you like.

How much time do I need to dedicate to the program?

It varies from person to person, but be prepared to work hard and to dedicate about 30-40 hours in total. That may sound like a lot, but you have a full year to complete the program so you can pace yourself over 12 months!

After I complete the Certificate in Hospitality and Tourism Industry Essentials, what comes next?

This certificate will lay the groundwork for you to pursue your goals in whatever direction you choose. You might even find that you want to deepen your knowledge further, and if you do, Yellowbrick and NYU SPS have you covered with additional in-person and online program options.

ENROLLMENT DETAILS

What payment methods and currencies do you accept?

We accept almost any type of credit or debit card. So if you have a Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, or Discover card, we’ll accept it. If you’re enrolling outside the United States, tuition will be charged in your local currency at the prevailing currency exchange rate.

Do you offer payment plan options?

Yes. Our mission is to make education accessible, which means also offering options that make it easier for students to make their tuition payment. You can pay up front, of course, or you can choose to pay in installments. All payment plan information will be sent to you upon acceptance into the program.

How much does the program cost?

The cost of the entire program, which includes all six courses and related activities plus the certificate is $999. There are also installment payment plans available, starting as low as $99/month. Complete pricing will be sent to you upon acceptance into the program

What is your cancellation policy?

You can withdraw from a session hassle-free and at no-cost within 24 hours of enrollment. After that, you have up to 7 days to withdraw and get a full refund, minus a $100 cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued for enrollments past 7 days.

I’ve enrolled. How do I begin the program?

That’s easy. Once we have received your tuition payment, your spot is secured. As soon as your class cohort opens, you will receive a welcome email that has your login instructions, and you can begin immediately. The program is 100% online and self-paced, so you can complete it on your schedule.

Is there financial aid available?

No, financial aid is not offered for Hospitality and Tourism Industry Essentials. However, there are payment plan options available, starting as low as $99/month.
